STORY / GAMEPLAY This is a pure racing game, which means there's no actual story. All you have to do is to choose a fast sports car from a large variety and race your way through different tracks located in Tokio (Tokyo is called actually), the capital city of Japan. Your main goal (as in every racing game) is to finish first. The gameplay is quite tricky since the car's controls are not perfectly responsive, especially when you try to slide the car or turn in every curve of the track. But with some practice, the game can become great racing fun! GRAPHICS / SOUND The game's visuals are presented in 3D but the action is not as fast as it should! I guess the 3DO could do better than that (check: The Need For Speed). The sampled sound effects (engines, car brakes etc) are quite decent (as expected) and the music scores remind me of Japanese Pop music. This game takes advantage of the 3DO's potential and actually shows some teeth (compared to the most of non coin op racing games of the time). Still, the game could be far better I think but we can easily call it as the "father" of all 3D racing games that later followed on the Playstation, the Saturn and the N64 more advanced consoles. | |
